More free screenwriting software. This one is in browser. I haven’t tried it but it looks cool.

Just a quick thanks for a great workshop at the JBFC that finished last week. Hope you all enjoyed/learned something. Here’s a favorite Faulkner quotation to send you into summer.
“I only write when I’m inspired, so I make sure I’m inspired every day at 9:00am”
*9:00 may be a bit early but you get the point.
I expect emails at any point before tomorrow morning…. TITLES if you have them!!! Even just a working title.
Since we’re gonna talk about endings next week, you could watch LIttle Miss Sunshine. I know you have a bunch of writing to do and that should be priority… but…. Michael Arndt is a master of the ending.
I posted a talked of his a while back where he goes into detail about structuring an ending. You can find it here. Seriously though WRITE!!!!! And if you can come up with a working title for Tues. that would be great too.
Particularly for the HS class. We watched the introduction to this last week now take a look at the how PT Anderson structures those dialogue-free scenes on the page.

If you didn’t get to watch Chinatown or are looking for a follow up I’d check out Who Framed Roger Rabbit. A classic blending of live action and animation and by the far the #1 animated noir ever.
Dare I say lesser Kaufman… still way better than most. Kaufman is really a fantasy writer if you think about it. He doesn’t use dragons or aliens, but he invents these fantastical worlds that seem to live right here in the real world.
Writers and Procrastination are like — wait, just let me read the wiki article on procrastination and look up some quotes from my favorite authors, but first I have to find the right music for this simile…
Last Day to Watch Chinatown.
The screenwriter of Chinatown.
Found this online and thought it was well done. I’d take a look at it only after seeing the movie.
I just posted up a bunch of new and favored shorts for some of the students in the new Screenwriting class @ the Lab… enjoy! Don’t hesitate to comment either. I’m interested in your take.

There’s a new group that started @ the Burns last week so be prepared for more updates and info as they get involved in the Screenwriters Workshop.

This will be a new series of posts regarding scripts I think are great / worth a read.
Tenenbaums is one of my favorites. Obviously tone comes to mind, and this film is a perfect example of creating a color palette that really adds to the experience, but it’s also one of the best uses of narration I’ve seen in a very long time. Alec Baldwin reading that dry, super-insightful dialogue is reason enough enjoy this 119 page delight.
The Celtx site has gotten a little needy lately and now they require an email and some logging in and whatnot. This is a link to download Celtx on CNET.com… it’s just easier and more direct.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Young Authors Conference today. It was a great time. Hope I see some of you @ the Lab… or the theater for that matter.
